چکیده

PURPOSE To evaluate the clinical benefit of using a new iterative reconstruction technique fully integrated on a standard clinical scanner and reconstruction system using a TWIST acquisition for high-resolution dynamic three-dimensional contrast-enhanced MR angiography (CE-MRA). METHODS Low-dose, high-resolution TWIST datasets of 11 patients were reconstructed using both standard GRAPPA-based reconstruction for reference and iterative reconstruction, which reduces the temporal footprint of reconstructed images. Image quality of both techniques was assessed by two experienced readers, as well as quantitatively evaluated using a time-signal curve analysis. RESULTS Image quality scores consistently and significantly improved by using iterative reconstruction compared with the standard approach. Most notably, the delineation of small to mid-size vasculature improved from a mean Likert score between "nondiagnostic" and "poor" for standard to between "good" and "excellent" for iterative reconstruction. The full width at half maximum of the contrast agent bolus computed from the time-signal curve was also reduced by iterative reconstruction, allowing for more precise bolus timing. CONCLUSION Iterative reconstruction can substantially improve high-resolution dynamic CE-MRA image quality, most notably in small to mid-size vasculature. Dynamic CE-MRA with iterative reconstruction could become an alternative to conventional static 3D CE-MRA, thus simplifying the clinical workflow. High spatial and temporal resolution dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) using compressed sensing with magnitude image subtraction

PURPOSE We propose a compressed-sensing (CS) technique based on magnitude image subtraction for high spatial and temporal resolution dynamic contrast-enhanced MR angiography (CE-MRA). METHODS Our technique integrates the magnitude difference image into the CS reconstruction to promote subtraction sparsity. Fully sampled Cartesian 3D CE-MRA datasets from 6 volunteers were retrospectively under...

Improved dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) using iterative data reconstruction

Background CE-MRA following the injection of a gadolinium-based contrast agent (GBCA) bolus is widely used in clinical assessment of vascular dynamics and tissue perfusion (1,2). Although keyhole techniques with an increased number of central k-space updates further improved contrast kinetics information, spatial resolution remains limited. Alternatively applied view sharing approaches also res...

Let’s TWIST again: Temporal and Spatial High-Resolution 3D MR-Angiography of the Hand

Compared to conventional contrastenhanced MR angiography (MRA), which provides a spatial high-resolution threedimensional (3D) MRA data set of the vascular target region, MRA with TWIST (time-resolved angiography with stochastic trajectories) with its high temporal resolution offers an additional dynamic component. It presents a broad range of advantages for all vascular diagnostic questions wh...

Interleaved Variable Density Sampling with ARC Parallel Imaging and Cartesian HYPR for Dynamic MR Angiography

INTRODUCTION For MR applications such as contrast-enhanced MR angiography (CE-MRA), it is desirable to simultaneously achieve high spatial and temporal resolutions; however fully-sampled Cartesian acquisition of large matrices is time consuming. View sharing combined with parallel imaging (PI) improves temporal resolution [1], as does incoherent under-sampling with compressed sensing (CS) [2] o...

Congenital Heart Disease: Role of Time-Resolved MR Angiography

Background and Objective: Cardiac MRI and contrast-enhanced MR angiography (CE-MRA) are gaining interest as non-invasive diagnostic measures for both primary diagnosis and follow up of patients with congenital heart disease (CHD) (1). Due to the presence of complex anatomy and extensive collateral pathways between pulmonary and systemic circulation in patients with CHD, a highly temporally reso...
